Week 5:PROJECTION MAPPING
Growing up, I could recall vividly my mum telling me how they viewed movies using a white curtain, White curtains! She said;and how she would always go to the village centre with her sibilings and folk to look at this man whose skin shone like the sun. MR Clark a British white man as my mum called him would always display films of Jesus Christ and his sojourn on earth on white large curtains as my mum will say. This white like curtains made the pictures dreamlike. She said it was the movement of the images that made it captivating.
I have come to realize it was a PROJECTOR 😂…
Having focused on Fashion industry and negative impacts of fast fashion in the society: I feel projection mapping can be used as a strong tool to create awareness and enlighten the masses about the adverse effects of Fast fashion. When we project images and videos of clothing or fashion items showcasing the damages caused by the production and dumping of fast fashion piece, it will draw attention to the hidden consequences behind the fast fashion trend.
BIG QUESTION: IS PROJECTION MAPPING LIMITED TO A PARTICULAR AREA?
Well, I think areas with less infrastructure, electricity and stable internet connection is a no go area for projection mapping.
WHAT Y’all think?
GROUP WORK
My team and I met after class to discuss on how to go about the coursework, since we are working on Fast fashion and how to create awareness on the effects of it, we came up with a slogan. CHEAP PRICE, HIDDEN CONSEQUENCE. We are not a perfect group. We have our flaws. We didn’t always agree, but we always quarel to settle. At the end of the group meeting we all decided to look out for the media artifacts we needed for our Assignment.
Till then, Bye for now.
