Week 4: SDG 9(resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization

SDG 9,  which   emphasizes  resilient infrastructure,  industrialization   and  inclusive  innovation,  is   of   great importance  in  today's  rapidly changing world.Reflecting  on this goal, I am  amazed  by the  interdependence  of  the   different  components and their potential to stimulate sustainable development.

Resilient infrastructure forms the backbone of any society,  facilitating  efficient transportation, access to clean energy, and reliable  communications  systems. By investing in infrastructure  designed to withstand natural disasters and  the   impacts   of  climate  change,  we can ensure the safety and well-being of communities, while  minimizing  economic  damage  caused by  those  events.

Inclusive and sustainable industrialization is another  essential  aspect of SDG 9. It emphasizes the importance of promoting industries that not only contribute to economic growth but also prioritize social and environmental sustainability. By encouraging the adoption of cleaner and more efficient technologies, we can  reduce  the negative  impact  of industrial activities on the environment and public health.  Furthermore,  inclusive industrialization ensures that the benefits of economic growth are shared equitably,  thereby  reducing  inequality  and promoting social cohesion.

The  focus  on innovation  in  SDG 9 is particularly inspiring. In a world characterized by rapid technological  advancement,   driving  innovation is  essential   to   solve  complex challenges and  find  sustainable solutions. By promoting research and development, supporting  startups  and  improving  access to information and  communications   technology,  we can  open   up  new opportunities for economic growth, job  creation  and  innovation.  social  ministry.

SDG 9  reiterates  that sustainable development requires a  comprehensive  and integrated approach. It highlights the importance of investing in infrastructure that is not only resilient but also sustainable,  inclusive  and innovative. By working towards the  goals  of SDG 9, we can lay the  foundations  for a more prosperous,  equitable  and resilient future.

COMMUNITY TO ENGAGE IS FAST FASHION INDUSTRY.

WHAT IS FAST FASHION?

Fast fashion refers to an unsustainable method of clothing production that quickly creates cheap clothing to accommodate the latest style trends. Fast fashion companies sacrifice both the efficiency of their materials and the sustainability of their production methods to take advantage of a rapidly changing industry that is highly dependent on trend.

HAS FAST FASHION DROPPED SINCE INCEPTION?

Fast fashion has been a part of  modern lifestyle for many years.  Fast   fashion   is   known  for being fast,  cheap,  and disposable,  encouraging  people to buy new clothes frequently to stay fashionable. However, the appeal of fast fashion seems to be  waning  for many people.  According   to  Modern  Fellow,  54% of Americans  believe   that  fast fashion  will   become   obsolete.

THE RISE AND FALL OF FAST FASHION

Fast fashion  does   not   mean   long-term  wear. While there are numerous contributing elements, fast fashion is certainly one of them. These  companies  turn to sweatshops that  pay  their employees  significantly   lower   wages  to use cheap  labor  and  keep   costs   low.People's  desire to  buy  fast fashion  products  that  contribute  to these human rights  abuses   is   decreasing  as awareness of them  increases.Poor   quality  materials are  often  used to create fast fashion.People will become aware of the situation and start looking for better solutions that  suit  their lifestyle  as  they need to change  their   clothes   frequently. This   contributed  to the  decline  of  American   manufacturing  clothes.Clothing-manufacturers  will   seek  cheap  labor  abroad if they have to pay these  companies   more  to  produce  their clothes. With fast fashion,  the   majority  of  clothes   are   made   overseas   rather   than  in American  factories. So  while fast fashion  is   not  solely  responsible  for the  decline   of  American manufacturing, it  certainly   has  a role  to   play.Fast fashion needs natural resources to  produce  the clothes sold in these stores.

Additionally, they  waste  a lot of resources,  especially  water, because they  produce   a   lot   of   clothes   to   sell.Without  fast  fashion,  this water  could  be used for other purposes.

Fast fashion is bad for workers, both in the  United   States  and abroad. As people learn more about these  topics,  fast fashion  will  become less and less popular.

GROUP WORK

After we chose our community, my team and I decided to share the task amongst each other, I took the WHAT CAN FASHION INDUSTRY DO TO MAKE IT MORE SUSTAINABLE. By doing so, we wanted everyone to gain more insight on what fast fashion is and how it is relatable to SDG9.after our back and forth we came up with something good for our class presentation.
