Week 10: EPILOGUE

I can say for sure this was a successful module; from not liking the class initially to always looking forward to it, this module has enlightened me on the UN and the SDGs.it has harnessed my writing skills, the challenge of having to write Blogs every week.  This module has given me basic insights into the happenings in Nigeria and other countries. From beautiful trouble, to cultural jamming as a tool and strategy for challenging the status quo. The classes has been interactive where we have shared ideas with each other and expanded our knowledge. Having worked on SDG 9 and the Fashion industry, I have been able to know the negative effects of fast fashion and how to make it more sustainable. Coming from a well known community in Nigeria called Aba which is known for having a large clothing market., I feel the need to enlighten them on how to make their market more sustainable. PEER MENTORING AND TEAM WORK Being in a group of  five with different background, we put in o...

Week 9: Referencing and Citation

On this day, Mr Ben emphasized on the need to cite our work properly, prior to this day, I thought I was doing it well. but the class was an eye opener on the need for proper referencing in order to avoid plagiarism. After that, Mr Ben made sure to check up on groups to know how far they have gone with their artifacts. When he met with my group, he made notable corrections and asked us to implement it effectively. GROUP WORK We met after class to look at the Artifacts we made and to know if it was submission worthy, we also made some corrections and decided to put finishing touches to our work.  It’s a beginning to our End.

Week 8: Augmented Reality

Do we realize that the world has evolved digitally since the inception of technologies that has helped to make life better. Coming to the Uk as an international student, I felt lost at first because I didn’t know how to navigate my way around town. The Road network was different from what I am used to back home.it was always frustrating each time I tried to cross over and people yelled at me.Look out..it’s a carrr  coming!! as their eyes pierced at me like a knife to my soul. Fast forward to now, I comfortably know my way around because of my constant use of Google Maps, not like I wasn’t In the know of this app, but I have found the need for it.😂. The google maps has helped me know when the road is blocked, when the trains will arrive and at an exact time.(Technology is an oracle indeed). Augmented Reality has helped in the way most users have interacted with digital content. As my team and I are focused on SDG 9 and how to make  fast fashion more sustainable, I feel Augment...

Week 7: PRODUCTION WEEK

Image
In week 7, our group arranged a meeting on October 26th at the Ellen terry building , our aim of this meeting was to participate in a brainstorming session on what artifacts we will be using. We went through different artifact to use for our fashion industry. We looked at how to make our work well detailed and the content it should bear. We choose   *VR/Documentary video- for this we knew it was going to be tasking because I don’t know what it entails but having someone whose field of study was related to this in our group made it easy or so it seem *Graphic poster- what better way to pass a message across than to make glaring images with write up that resonated with the crowd *Fashion Magazine: As a writer studying communication culture and media, communicating your in-depth message across through writing was another way of bridging the gap of ignorance of effects of fast fashion,   With this,  the saying “The pen is mightier than the Sword” goes unnoticed. Because...

Week 6:Model UN and Edu larp

To be very candid with you, each time a topic is taught in class, I try as much as possible to paint imaginary pictures somewhere in my brain. In my early days, I was in my school’s social club. This club was responsible for social activities that happened most of the term. We did Stage plays, talk shows, and debates. Our message always resonated with the audience.  In my own understanding, model UN and Larp helps the audience understand the message clearly. It allows live action plays which in turn allows individuals to portray a certain character on the message they want to disperse. In week 6, we were split into two groups and asked to analyze the problems related to climate change of any country and proffer possible solutions to the problem. At the end of the lesson, we were able to do that. As a Nigerian girl, I am not a fan of the UN sDg because I feel Nigeria as a less advanced country is marginalized. I feel the UN SDG is a case of the rich getting Richer and the poor gets ...

Week 5:PROJECTION MAPPING

Image
Growing up, I could recall vividly my mum telling me how they viewed movies using a white curtain, White curtains! She said;and how she would always go to the village centre with her sibilings and folk to look at this man whose skin shone like the sun. MR Clark  a British white man as my mum called him would always display films of Jesus Christ and his sojourn on earth on white large curtains as my mum will say. This white like curtains made the pictures dreamlike. She said it was the movement of the images that made it captivating. I have come to realize it was a PROJECTOR 😂… Having focused on Fashion industry and negative impacts of fast fashion in the society: I feel projection mapping can be used as a strong tool to create awareness and enlighten the masses about the adverse effects of Fast fashion. When we project images and videos of clothing or fashion items showcasing the damages caused by the production and dumping of fast fashion piece, it will draw attention to the hidd...
